It was pretty clear when we visited our house for the first time, that the kitchen was in desperate need of an upgrade. And with upgrade I mean a total renovation, yup.
After a long time of pinning my favorite kitchen vibes and realizing we were on a budget, we decided to go for an IKEA kitchen with their walnut look fronts (called SINARP). I had seen these a few times before and always loved the classy vibes. We agreed on keeping the cabinets as affordable as possible. We wanted to invest our money for the kitchen in our appliances. After all, those are the ones in it for the long ride. We can always decide on new kitchen fronts for another vibe, but the appliances are here to stay. And we really wanted them to be beautiful, timeless and of high quality. And that is exactly where SMEG comes in. You can find all references at the end of this article, you’re welcome! :)
Always on the wishlist: a SMEG cooker. I mean… always so impressed when I saw one in holiday homes or online. I’m not the greatest cook myself, it is mostly my husband making dinner, but there was no doubt, we definitely wanted to go for an induction cooker. Haven’t regret this for a second! It is a perfect match for our family and I actually love the combination of the classy walnut look fronts & the inox cooker. It gives an industrial vibe to the kitchen.
The induction hob offers precise, fast heating, ensuring that everything from boiling water to simmering sauces happens efficiently. Its five zones allow multiple dishes to be cooked simultaneously, giving chefs of any skill level the ability to manage complex meals with ease. What sets SMEG apart, particularly with this cooker, is the advanced features it offers without compromising on aesthetic appeal. The soft-close oven door, digital display, and easy-to-clean enamel interior show how SMEG takes care of both practicality and elegance. A perfect match with the modern hood, same width as the cooker and therefore the ideal hood. The white finish of the hood contrasts nicely with the warm walnut look fronts, adding a clean, modern touch without overwhelming the space.
The dishwasher & refridgerator with freezer are built in so I can’t show a picture of it. What I can talk about are my favorite features of it, here we go!
- The dishwasher has a timer, so we can plan when it starts a new cycle. Love that since using energy during the night is saving us money! We always let the dishwasher do its job during the night.
- When the dishwasher is done, it automatically opens the door so it can let off some steam and the dishes get perfectly dry. This is my most favorite feature ever haha! Always perfectly dry dishes, truly a lifehack!
- There are a lot of possible programs: special for wine glasses, quick program, sustainable program…
- Our refridgerator comes with a small built in freezer and with a baby at home, this is very convenient. We always can store little leftovers for him.
- It’s a really big refridgerator with a large drawer for bottles, we are really happy with that!
For the faucet & sink we didn’t have any special demands, I only wanted the faucet to have an extractable hand shower. We didn’t have this in our first home and I think this is such a life saver. Much easier to keep the kitchen clean! In combination with the inox cooker, we thought a matching sink & faucet were great choice. What do you think?
Whether you’re a professional chef or a home cook, this kitchen offers the best of both worlds: cutting-edge technology and elegant design. With SMEG and IKEA working together, this renovation proves that functionality and beauty can indeed go hand in hand.
