2023 has been quite a heavy year. We fell in love with an old town house near Bruges and bought it in January. We immediately saw the opportunity to make this our family home. We were going to paint a few rooms and renovate the bigger parts later, but we ended up rebuilding the entire ground floor, new kitchen, new bathroom and painted the entire house ourselves. Classic renovation story haha!
In March I found out I was pregnant which was the most amazing news for us, but it came with a lot of stress as well. In July we needed to move out of our first home and the new house was not going to be ready at all (and me being 5 months pregnant at that time) so we had to be creative.
We made 2 bedrooms into our temporary kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom and lived there for almost 3 months. Just a few weeks before our son Harrie was born, we were able to move downstairs. It was quite a journey but now that everything is finished, we are sooo happy we dare to jump into this crazy adventure. Time to show you our new bathroom!
Our previous bathroom was all neutral, so we decided to go for a colorful bathroom this time. Since it’s an old townhouse with a lot of original elements, we were also convinced it totally would totally get away with a more ‘funky vibe’.
I payed a visit to the STG showroom in Bruges where I got an interesting tour from Katrien. She showed us all options for our shower & washing table. It is quite a small space so it was not easy deciding on what would be the best possible lay out. My niece who is an architect, helped us finding the best possible idea for our small bathroom. The best part? A veeeeeery big shower!
After the STG showroom visit, there were a few things already on the bathroom wishlist. I definitely wanted to go for built in faucets. I think it adds a more chic hotel vibe so not a doubt about that.
Deciding on the faucets color on the other hand, was more difficult. It kept on doubting between black or chrome. In our first home we had black faucets so that made us choose for chrome this time. Also, in other rooms in the house we also have chrome faucets so I kind of like the idea of consistency.
Lay out: check
Faucets: check
Washing table: check
(short) toilet (for saving space): check
The last but most important decision for our bathroom were the color of our shower tiles. Pink, blue or green were in the running! Final decision: dark green tiles which we thought were going to be very cool in combo with a fun monstera and colorful towels. Very curious to find our what you think about our small bathroom space with huuuuuge shower. I think the green matches perfectly with the chrome built in faucets. Showers are truly relaxing in here.
